Congratulations Jesse Rose Remigi!!!! Jesse Rose plays on the Milligan College (division NAIA in Elizabethtown, TN) tennis team and for the first time in 6 years, the team made it to the regional tournament. In addition, Jesse Rose (a freshman!) made the all-conference team!!! A HUGE woooo---hoooo goes on to you. We're so proud of your accomplishments!
Lanie Benton and her mom recently returned from a mission trip to Guatamala where they had a great time sharing God's love with the people. They provided food, clothing, and shelter (10 of them!)! We know you made a difference in so many lives and think it is awesome that you have reached out to those in need.
Congratulations to Mary Cannon Dickens!!! She has been accepted as an ambassador with PEOPLE TO PEOPLE and will spend 3 weeks this summer in Australia! PEOLE TO PEOPLE formed in 1956 and it promotes international and domesticopportunities for individuals from all walks of life. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the country they are scheduled to visit (history, government, economy, etc.). We are proud of you Mary Cannon and hope you will have a great time as you learn more about the Australian culture and much, much more!!!
We recently heard from Stacey Sinclair (former camper and staffer) who is now living in the Big Apple! Stacey is working for a textile manufacturing company and has no regrets about moving there -- she loves it! She definitely reminisces about her Hollymont days and still keeps up with friends.
McKinley Anderson (age 10) is working on a project that will help keep those who attend the Soup Kitchen in Valdosta, GA warm this winter! She has recruited her cousins and any others interested to knit scarves for 100 people. They will be presented in December. If you are interested in participating in the project, send your knitted scarves to the camp office and we will be happy to forward them to McKinley. Thank you McKinley for inspiring us all to make a difference in the lives of those around us.
Missy and Loren Jane Roper, Merridy, Steele, and Spence Sims, Anne Harvey and several other family members spent a few days soaking up the sun in Grand Cayman! They had a great time and are home safely! :)
Lauren Glass is on her way to stardom! Lauren performed in the First Baptist Church of Swannanoa's "Passion Play: That's Why He Came" and portrayed Mary Magdeline. She sang a solo and as far as we are concerned, she should be on the next AMERICAN IDOL!!!
Amy Lewallen is enjoying her camp travels on the road and has been catching up with Hollymont staffers Emily Wintenburg, Rachel Wintenburg, Sarah Lamar, and Amber Simon! We're so glad you are all doing well and look forward to seeing you this summer.
We want to extend well wishes to Julie Hartley McConnell who married on 7-7-07. Congratulations!!!
Way to go Terri Donaldson, RN, ND (camp nurse 2003-2008)!!! Nurse Terri recently graduated with her Nursing Doctorate from Vanderbilt University. When Terri is around and the question is asked, 'is there a doctor in the house?' - the answer is YES! Congratulations --- we are so proud of you!!!
We'd like to send a BIG congratulations out to Jennifer Pickering (director '88-'91) on her January 5 wedding to Leigh Maher!!! We wish you both the very best and many happy years together!

Our thoughts and prayers are with those at Union University following the recent tornadoes that ripped through the campus, Tuesday, February 5. Hollymont staffer and former camper, Rachael Moore is a student at Union. Although there was much damage to her apartment, we are thankful to report that she is safe and doing well.
Aloha! Gail Mashburn recently spent several days visiting family in Hawaii! We are glad she is back safely. This summer she will be ready to show us all some new moves at the luau.

We are excited that Sally Curry (counselor in 2003 and 2005) has moved to the Black Mountain area! On her days off, we see her periodically around the office and we are so glad she's here!
Congratulations to Kristin King and John Lawrence (his sisters are Brooke, Kate, and Jane) on their recent wedding (January 5, 2008)! Kristin and John met at camp in the summer of 2005 while Kristin was serving as a counselor and John was our ski boat driver and Hollymont man. We want to extend our best wishes to them as they begin their new life together.
Olivia Muratides, Brooke Josepher, Austin Merlin, Charlotte Wilson, Allie Elozory, Emily Levy, Katherine Hill, Caterina Rodriguez, Stacey Hanburry, and Madi Fehling had a fun post-Hollymont reunion in Ponte Vedra, FL. Sarah Lamar was there the same weekend to visit her grandmother so she was able to see them too!
CANNON BALLS! That sounds familiar, doesn't it? Madilyn Vess submitted this recipe in the Kids Corner category for the Hendersonville Times-News cookbook. Madeline and her cannon balls were prominently featured in Blue Ridge Recipes. (Great studio photo shots!) She learned to make this delicious sweet treat in the Hollymont cooking class and now Cannon Balls and Madeline are famous throughout western North Carolina.
Cannon Balls are a Piedmont North Carolina treat created by the grandmother of Mary Cannon and Scottie Dickens. In the past, the cooking teachers brought their best recipes to camp. Starting 2007, camper's have begun sharing family favorites. Feel free to contact us with any recipe suggestion you have for the consideration of 2008 cooking teachers.
Congratulations to Anne Harvey, Merridy M. Sims, and Amy Lewallen for completing the 3-day, 60-mile breast cancer walk in Atlanta, GA, October 12-14, 2007. Along with two other team members, Team Harvey walked in memory of Anne's mother, Linda Harvey.
Another camper experiencing fame is Greer Naudin! Greer was shown LIVE as she nonchalantly picked up shells at Grayton Beach State Park while Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel gave the latest hurricane update!
Wedding Bells... Congratulations to Margaret Brooks on her marriage to Matt Snyder.
We would also like to extend a BIG congratulations to Jenny Herrin. Jenny married Heath Wainwright, Saturday, November 17 in Waycross, GA.
Baby News! Congratulations to Meredith Brooks Sorrell and Carter Sorrell on the birth of their twin girls, Brooks and Laura.
Also, congratulations to Brooke Lawrence Hata and her husband, Jon, on the birth of their daughter, Cate. We just love those Hollymont campers and we are looking forward to their first summer in 2013. We'll start working on their applications for the summer of 2013 so you can start filling them out NOW! :)
